Research Proposal Form
Overview
We welcome your research proposal to the Anthropological Research Council (ARC). This is a key element of our dialog regarding possible ARC assistance with crowdfunding for your project. We are here to help, and you may anticipate questions and suggestions to refine your proposal.
As context, the ARC is a charitable, scientific and educational organization, determined by the IRS to be tax-exempt under Internal Revenue Code 501(c)(3). We support anthropological research, in all its aspects, covering human physical and cultural development in all places through all time.
We have special interest in research proposals from graduate students, where the proposed research supports completion of thesis or dissertation requirements. However, we are interested in all research that advances anthropological science, and we certainly welcome submissions from established scholars.
We refer you to section 7 below for key words and research focus areas that correspond with the ARC mission, under the National Taxonomy of Exempt Organizations (NTEE) categorizations. It will be helpful for you to consider these terms and focus areas in the construct of your proposal.
Proposal preparation guidance:
The proposal form below is composed of 3 principal sections:
Section 1, Paras 1-4, requests provision of your identifying data; relationships to other researchers and organizations (including other known or potential funding sources); project outline to include objectives, timeline and research results reporting. Section 1 also solicits attachment of the resumes of the principal researcher and of any co-researchers. We ask that Section 1 not exceed 4 pages. If an expanded proposal is needed subsequently, we will let you know.
Section 2 is the budget. Please provide dollar figures under those expense categories that pertain. Pls leave blank the categories that do not apply. You may add a category if you wish. We suggest that the budget category “Other/contingencies” constitute about 10% of your total cost.
Note: Signature and date at close of Section 2.
Section 3: Para 7, contains the above mentioned key words and research focus areas.
Your proposal will be evaluated upon scientific merit, clarity and coherence, reasonable fit between the project size and the budget. Your budget should be sufficient to accomplish your identified research goals, but kept as lean as practicable to increase the probability of security needed funding.
Upon favorable review, you can anticipate dialog with us concerning how best we can present your project on our website in search of crowdfunded contributions.
The details of contribution and project funds management and accounting will be the subject of correspondence concurrent with our joint tailoring of your proposal for website presentation.
